Willie Cauley-Stein now gets to fully embrace NBA Free Agency.
Initially, Willie was set to become a restricted free agent for the Sacramento Kings, giving them the chance to match any deal another team offered the former great British man. But before free agency opened, Willie begged the Kings to deregister the RFA in hopes of making a fresh start elsewhere.
Now he will make his wish come true, as the Kings allow Willie to become an unrestricted free agent, according to NBA reporter Sam Amick.
Source confirms Kings’ three-year $ 37million deal with point guard Cory Joseph (@ChrisBHaynes first). I am told that the third year is a partial guarantee.
Additionally, the Kings canceled Willie Cauley-Stein’s qualifying offer to release that money, making him an unrestricted free agent.

The 7-foot center has just emerged from a 2018-19 season in which he played 81 games and averaged 11.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.2 steals in 27.3 minutes per game. He shot 55.6% from the ground but only 55.1% from the free throw line.
The 25-year-old tall man is now on the hunt for his first big NBA salary now that he has completed his rookie contract after being the sixth pick in the 2015 overall standings. NBA Draft.
I would expect teams like the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers to show interest. They are both competing to win their respective conferences, but they are also in dire need of great.
